This page has been removed. An associate invested in both operating systems and stuck in the middle of politics expressed interest in stemming off a possible flame war. Out of respect for this associate I have removed this entry. I apologize to those visiting because you no longer have context on which to make an educated decision. Let's just say the numbers quoted a certain douchebag, Jim Laurent, are misleading at best, and if I had to guess I'd say they are downright lies as he certainly knows the truth.
Honestly, I've never censored my own blog before and the removal of this entry does not sit well with me ethically. However, to put it simply, respect trumps the need to post a comparison of Solaris to RHEL. Morally I feel justified in the removal.
If you would actually like to see the truth about Solaris I suggest using a site that doesn't end in sun.com or oracle.com. blogs.sun.com and blogs.oracle.com are hardly reliably sources when it comes to unbiased opinions.
Now that Sun has been bought by Oracle maybe we will see some unbiased OS comparisons since Oracle has vested interest in so many operating systems. But I doubt you should ever trust a vendor's blog. Try somewhere that will tell you the benefits and drawbacks of each solution as opposed to only describing benefits of one solution, and the drawbacks of all the alternatives.
